Freezing of warts
Warts are an unfortunate but common annoyance in children. Sometimes, they may be sore when they become rubbed against something, and they may cause aesthetic problems.
Warts can be removed by using a freezing technique called cryotherapy. Freezing is a quick operation. The area to be treated is often numbed with Emla numbing cream, which has to be applied 1 to 1.5 hours before the procedure. A nurse can apply the cream at Pikkujätti, or the patient can buy it from the pharmacy without a prescription. The treated area is generally asymptomatic. One to three rounds of treatment are required.
