Exercise stress tests
Children who are suspected to have exercise-induced asthma are subjected to an exercise stress test under a doctor’s supervision. During the test, the child runs outdoors for six minutes. The breathing of the child is examined before and after the run either by a spirometry or oscillometry examination. The test takes about 1 to 2 hours.
A referral for the examination is issued by the attending physician. Exact written instructions for the examination are provided when the appointment is scheduled.
