Electronic services and mobile applications – Aava and Pikkujätti Oy

This accessibility statement applies to Aava’s and Pikkujätti’s electronic services: the online services at asiointi.aava.fi and asiointi.pikkujatti.fi and the mobile applications of Aava and Pikkujätti. Aava and Pikkujätti Oy are responsible for the accessibility of these services. The report was drawn up on 12 November 2025 and is based on an accessibility audit of the online service carried out by an external specialist and a preliminary self-assessment of the mobile applications.

The Aava and Pikkujätti online services do not yet fully meet the requirements of WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Accessibility deficiencies have been detected in the service, which are currently being corrected as part of overall development of the digital services. The audit identified challenges related to the contrast of texts and links in particular. Some text and buttons do not meet the contrast ratios defined in accessibility standards. This can make it difficult to distinguish content. In addition, several icons, such as the help icons and app store link images, lack an alternative text equivalent. There are deficiencies in the labelling of input fields of forms, which can impair the functionality of a screen reader. The page structure is not logical in all respects: the pages lack the <main> element, the header levels do not follow a consistent structure, and some sub-pages lack a main header or language definition. Zooming of the content is limited when using mobile devices, which does not meet the accessibility requirements. In addition, in some places links do not visually stand out sufficiently, and the link text does not always clearly describe the target of the link.

The mobile applications of Aava and Pikkujätti currently mostly meet the accessibility requirements, but they have not yet undergone an external accessibility audit. A more detailed assessment of the accessibility of the applications is currently being carried out, and the statement will be updated once the assessment is complete. The applications’ key functions are available using a screen reader, but there may be individual deficiencies in the roles of visual elements, element tags and the size of touch areas. The accessibility of the mobile applications, as well as the other digital platforms, continues.

Customers may also use access services without using the online service or mobile application. If the use of digital services is not possible due to accessibility issues, the Aava and Pikkujätti customer service can be reached by phone from the number +358 10 380 3838 and via email at [email protected]. The customer service acts as an alternative channel to make appointments and take care of other key functionalities.

Feedback on accessibility and requests to receive content in an accessible format can be sent to [email protected]. The service responds to feedback within 14 days.

If the customer is not satisfied with the response they receive or does not receive a response within a reasonable time, the matter can be reported to the supervisory authority. The supervisory authority is the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland, Unit for Accessibility Monitoring. The authority’s website can be found at www.saavutettavuusvaatimukset.fi. The authority can be contacted by email at [email protected] or by phone on +358 295 016 000.

Aava and Pikkujätti Oy will correct the significant accessibility deficiencies within 12 months and aim to ensure that both the online service and the mobile applications meet the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility requirements by 31 December 2026 at the latest.
