Spirometry
As a standardized examination for school-age children and adults, spirometry provides information about the functioning of the lungs and indicates a possible case of asthma.
The child breathes through a mouthpiece into a spirometry device. Spirometry is used to measure the volume and air flow of the lungs and changes thereto when a medicine that affects the breathing is administered. The examination is painless and can be combined with an exercise stress test when required. The examination is performed by a trained nurse.
